What is the opportunity?

Global PLANET (PNL Analysis and Exploration tool) team is core component of strategic digital transformation of Product Control function of RBC. This team uses latest Java, Spring, Angular and Big Data (Spark/ Kafka/Hive) technologies to bring value to RBC Finance Leadership while continuously innovating and exploring newer technologies like Cassandra/ Trino. Having won number of team and individual awards, this team is extremely collaborative and has a track record of continued success. This opportunity gets you exposure to all these technologies while also helping you learn a core Finance domain – Product Control.

What will you do?

  • Produce high quality code which is functional and maintainable

  • Interact with business sponsors to help gather requirements

  • Participate in the development process for gathering requirements, implementing, and releasing applications

  • Assist the first line support team in resolving production issues when called upon

  • Monitor and control activities according to plan.

  • Continuously identify potential issues, conflicts, and risks. Analyze, mitigate, and escalate where appropriate.

  • Establish strong working relationships across business units and platforms to build influence and impact with key business partners. Collaborate with groups to define and achieve deliverables and ensure initiatives are effectively integrated into RBC procedures and processes.

  • Contribute to ongoing administrative program activities as required.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Computer Science/ Engineering or related experience

  • 2-4 years application development experience on an Enterprise team

  • Strong Java/Spring and JavaScript (Angular 14+) development skills for Linux Environment

  • Strong problem solving and data analysis skills including SQL

  • Exposure to large scale enterprise software development using DevOps tools like Git, Jenkins and Docker

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience in a matrix environment, such as a large, publicly traded corporation

  • Some experience in application development in the Financial Services industry

  • Apache Spark with Scala with some exposure to Kafka
